Staying Fit While Traveling

Staying Fit While Traveling

It can be tough to continue your fitness goals while on vacation or out of town for work. It throws off your routine and forces you to really discipline yourself. However, there are some helpful tips you can take with you out of town.

1. Find nearby fitness classes.

Group exercise is a great way to get motivated and have fun working out. To find classes you can check out: mindbodyonline.com and classpass.com. ClassPass is a cheaper way to try out multiple classes/gyms in different areas!  My favorite group classes: HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) and Zumba. HIIT is an intense boot camp workout. You'll do intense work for maybe 45-60 seconds and then slow it down. The class is meant to drive your heart rate up and down throughout the hour. Zumba, on the other hand, is more of a dance class with choreography easy enough to follow on the spot. It's mostly Latin themed and always a great sweat. You can see more about Zumba at Zumba.com.

2. Stay hydrated.

Bring a jug of water with you everywhere you go. Especially if you live in Florida and are traveling somewhere with a higher altitude, you're going to get dehydrated quickly even though you may not feel thirsty.

3. Pack workout clothes!

Don't leave these behind, otherwise you will definitely not make it to the gym. My favorite workout brands: gymshark.com, ryderwear.com, nvgtn.com.

4. Walk more.

Take the stairs as much as possible. Park further away from places you're going. If the destination isn't too far from your hotel, just walk. Be sure to bring tennis shoes for your walk and pack a change of shoes depending on where you're going.

5. Make healthy food choices.

The best part about Ideal Nutrition is you can bring it with you! So pack some Ideal healthy meals for your travels. If you're flying, bring foods that can last throughout the flight, like protein pancakes and muffins. If you're driving, pack a cooler and bring them all! You will most likely get your carbs in throughout the trip, so bring high protein meals with you. My favorite high protein meal: Jerk chicken with coconut rice. And the sausage quiche for breakfast.

I would also snag some AlaniNu energy drinks from the store for your travels! Traveling can really exhaust your body, no harm giving it a little boost!  Hopefully these tips help you on your next vacation or work trip!
